On June 5, 2018, Fabien Chaillan, datascientist at Naval Research, won the 2018 award edition for his project on automatic recognition in a big data context in the defense naval.
This prize allowed him, to benefit from a one-year grant to advance on his subject. His project aimed at the realization of new automatic recognition systems, based on deep learning. On board, the combat systems were already equipped with systems that automatically recognize a large part of the events reported by the sensors. In order to counter the problem of sensitivity of the signals processed by our sensors, he proposed to build generic recognition systems trained with substitute signals, relevant but not sensitive, in order to recover them and test them with specific signals.
The appropriation of this complex know-how with very high added value has enabled Naval Group to make a technological leap forward and gain an advantage in its markets.
